Folch was born in Mexico City in 1960. He started painting at the age of eleven.   His first painting teacher was the Mexican surrealist Alfonso Duran Vazquez. Upon completing a bachelor’s degree in communication at the Center of Studies in Sciences of Communication in Mexico City, he went to work for advertising agencies as a creative director, art director, sketch artist and graphic designer. Later he studied at La Esmeralda school of Painting, Engraving and Sculpture.

In 1989 Folch immigrated to Toronto, Canada where he worked as a freelance artist and with the film industry’s National Association of Employees and Technicians (NABET). During his time in Canada he completed his fine arts education.

While in Canada, Folch was awarded a grant for young creators from CONACULTA of Mexico. He has received numerous awards for his work.

Folch returned to Mexico in 1998 to live in San Miguel de Allende where he became the Director of the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramirez, El Nigromante (Bellas Artes). After 5 and a half years as Director Folch resigned so as to devote himself just to his art.

His artwork has been exhibited in Mexico, the United States and Canada.  In  Toronto, Canada his work was seen at Harbourfront Centre,  the Universities of Toronto and York.   

In Mexico City his art has been shown at the Salon de Arte Bancomer, Patricia Conde Gallery, Misrachi Gallery, and Arte XXI Gallery. Also at the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramirez in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and the Art Museum of Sinaloa in Mexico.

Currently his work can be seen in Mexico at Gallery Arte XXI and Gallery CSEIS in the Fabrica la Aurora in San Miguel de Allende.

He directed for five and a half years the Ignacio Ramírez Cultural Center "El Nigromante", artistic and cultural space of the National Institute of Fine Arts in San Miguel de Allende,

Honorary member of the Commission of the Celebrations of the Bicentennial of the Independence and Centenary of the Revolution 2010, of the municipality of San Miguel de Allende.

Founder of the Association of Fine Arts of San Miguel Allende, 2012

He participated in the first National Course of Professionalization in Museums of INBAL, taught and coordinated by Maestro Fernando Arechavala.Lascurain, 2012
